Description: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting

Details: This course includes both classroom and range time. Students will learn the rules of safe gun handling, rifle parts and operation of different action types, and shooting fundamentals. Other topics include selecting, storing, and caring for a rifle, and rifle ammunition. Students will have an opportunity to shoot from bench rest, prone, sitting, standing, and kneeling positions. Suggested materials include range gear such as eye/ear protection and notetaking materials, rifle(s) and appropriate ammunition (approx. 50 rounds)
