Dan Jones is an NRA Training Counselor and Chief Range Safety Officer with his first NRA certification in 2013. He volunteers much of his time helping youth experience the fun of shooting sports and outdoor recreation. In addition to discipline-specific shooting instruction, Dan teaches Utah Hunter Education, Bowhunter Education, and Furharvester Education courses, often at the Cache Valley Public Shooting Range where he also volunteers as a Range Safety Officer. Dan loves to work with new shooters so that they can experience the fun and personal growth that comes with learning to shoot. This is the main driving force behind why Dan loves working with Beehive Defense… learning to shoot properly isn’t complex if it is taught correctly and in an engaging way.
Dan is a member of the Trapper Trails Shooting Sports Committee and High Adventure Committee. Additionally, Dan is the black powder event director for the Trapper Trails Mountain Man Rendezvous and often aids in teaching NRA instructor courses for BSA volunteers.
Dan and his family love the outdoors and spend much of their time out camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing. They live in Cache Valley and love being able to help their kids run a small hobby farm and garden.
Dan was previously an EMT-I/Firefighter and volunteered with a local Search and Rescue team. Dan has his Bachelors of Information Technology and Masters of Science in Information Security and Assurance from Western Governors Association and numerous certification related to computer security and networking. He is currently working for a large US financial institution as one of their primary incident responders and their lead digital forensics analyst.
