Jim Richins

Jim Richins is an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor, Pistol Shooting Coach, Chief Range Safety Officer, and Training Counselor. Jim has been a certified instructor in a number of NRA shooting disciplines since 2008, became a Coach in 2010, and became a Training Counselor in 2015. Additionally, Jim has participated in numerous advanced tactical development and personal protection courses, including Aikido and Krav Maga. Jim speaks Japanese as a second language.

Jim was born in Logan UT, and has lived his entire adult life on the Wasatch Front. He was raised primarily in Davis county. As a child, Jim studied music but found his best subjects in school to be mathematics and science. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Organization Communication from the University of Utah in 1998. He has been employed as a software engineer since 2001.

In addition to the NRA, Jim spends his 392166_2764585446901_1033642826_ntime volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, particularly with the High Adventure programs, including Shooting Sports, Aquatics, Climbing and Rappelling, and Wilderness First Aid. Jim is also a volunteer with city CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and Neighborhood Watch. Beyond the shooting sports and the NRA, Jim’s other personal hobbies include triathlon and adventure races, healthy lifestyles and fitness, hiking, camping and backpacking, and music.
